Freezing my wotsits off

My word it was cold today - according to the thermometer in the car it was - 4c and this was at lunchtime.  Now I know by Russian standards this is nothing but for me it was still cold.   I drove through the winter wonderland this afternoon and stopped occasionally to take some photographs.  The only problem was that it was so cold it was painful to hold the camera for too long - perhaps I should have put my gloves on!   Anyway, just uploaded the photographs and over the next few days I will start working on them.  Not sure whether I like what I have produced so far - they seem a little chocolate boxish.

Cold and frosty morning

Playground just before dawn
It was up with the birds this morning.  Well actually, it was an early start and a lot of fumbling in the dark - yes I was out early taking photographs.   Wasn't too cold this morning - perhaps -2c - still enough for ice to form on the tripod though.   Anyway I was out in the local park just trying to capture the brilliant moon lit scene before dawn wiped it out.  Well that was the plan but then came the mist and the whole scene changed.  However, as one opportunity was lost another took its place.  Hopefully, the results will be worth while.

its back to university this morning.  Time to hand in essays and seminar papers.   Hopefully mine will be okay but you never know until they are marked.  Here's hoping!

Grey Days...

Reflections

I got up this morning with a plan.   A plan to get out early and capture some frosty sunrise images.  What do I find?  It is frosty but there is a thick clump of cloud sitting overhead.  As I look out of my bed room window far to the east there is the makings of a great sunrise but as I write this it is about 30 minutes away.  However, the thick cloud over head is fast approaching and doesn't really help me here stuck under this cloud.   Oh grey days!

Frosty Morning

Cold and Frosty Jubilee Park
It was a bit cold this morning.  According to the radio it was around -2c - which is quite cold these days.   Anyway, I thought I would go out and capture the cold world as dawn broke.   I was hoping for some sun to help enliven the images but all I got was a frost mist.  Still this added to the atmosphere.

The new computer is slowly starting to bed in.   I am still building the software etc on the machine.   I am in the process of installing Acronis True Image as my back up program.  I am not sure why but I always have problems with back up programs - so much so I ended up writing my own.  It wasn't too sophisticated but it worked.  However, I have decided to take the plunge and use a commercial product - only time will tell if it is worth the money.

As for the new computer all I can say is wow.   The reason I bought this machine was to try and handle very large image files.   I have to say it is not disappointing me.  Lets hope this early enthusiasm is not misplaced.

And finally. may I wish any who is reading this a happy new year and may next be better this this one.
