I was just going to bed last night when we had a 20 minute power cut. I looked out of my bed room window and saw that in the distance the street lights were on. So I went to bed. 20 minutes later I was woken by the TV coming back on as well as the lights. So I got up and switched everything off. Back to bed.
This morning I faced a different problem. My network server seemed not to be functioning correctly. More ferreting around rebooting machines etc and finally everything was back up and running. This is just another reminded, if one was needed, of how we are all reliant on complex systems to make our lives just a bit better. After all, if you are reading this then you are also reliant on the same system.
