I suppose anyone who has attended a life drawing class will know the problem. You have just got the the outline of the model fixed on the page and everything is falling into the place and then the tutor decides that the model/students need a break. You come back and, try as you might, you just can't get the model into the right place so all that work you put in was for nothing. This is what happened last night so I ended up with a half finished work. Such is life's rich tapestry!
