Trying a bit of Academic Drawing

A few weeks ago I picked up a wonderful catalogue of a 1991 exhibition called 'The Artist's Model ~ its role in British Art from Lely to Etty'. The book contains numerous prints of drawings made by artists of this period of the human form, either drawn from Life or The Antique. Now I don't wish to become a classical painter but there is something about understanding the human form if you want to develop as a human figurative artist - which is what really interests me above all else.

So I have found a classical pose photograph and intend to try and reproduce a drawing similar to some of the greats of 18th and 19th century British art. Nothing like setting one self up to fail but if you don't try you never progress. I suspect it will all end in tears!
