It is a while since I tried to make some animal drawings and I think I can see the difference. In the past I was happy with a rough likeness now I want it to be more accurate whilst at same time to try and reflect my reaction to the photograph. Some time ago I blogged about some artist who was making a perfect copy of a photograph - I just couldn't see the point. These words have come back to haunt me because what am I doing but making a drawing from a photograph. I hope that this is more than a just a copy, which of course it isn't because I have heavenly cropped the original photograph. This gives the drawing a totally different life to the photograph.
